From my discussions with him (and our failure to sell my first book idea so far), it's crucial for new book authors and/or bloggers to have a following or platform. That is, the "Twittering Granny" is a great idea if she has a strong following...but may not fly if her only followers are her seven grandchildren :-) And if you don't have a big blog readership, following, or platform...then all you need is a fabulous idea!
