Blogging for authors is no longer an option or a nice to have … it’s become a prerequisite.
Since I started writing my blog, it has become the main source of new clients and I have virtually stopped all other forms of so-called conventional marketing. It also acts as an organic search engine tool so I’ve stopped wasting money on sponsored links. Most of my blogs hit the top page of Google within hours.
Note that this one may take a little longer as the title is fairly common.
A well written blog with dynamic content is a key component for your Author Platform. When you approach a publisher with a manuscript, it’s a huge tick in the box and component of your marketing mix.
But by far the biggest reasons you should blog are these.
By using the linguistic centres in your brain regularly, you become a better writer. What’s more, if you look at the vast percentage of my blogs, you will see they are either seeds of potential chapters for a book or a seed for a whole book.
You can also blog a book – as did Sally Asling with Appreciating Angels
I even got my last book deal because my publisher saw one of my blogs and liked it. I sent him a manuscript on a Tuesday and had a signed contract by the Thursday … how cool is that?
