… how to go from an idea to a published book in 7 weeks
Here’s a brief summary of a really pleasant project I worked in recently with new author, James McBrearty
Step 1: take two labradors and go for a really good walk where you discuss overall aims and ambitions that the author wants from the book.
Step 2: establish timescales … and find out the client wants it published in less than 2 months in time for the BNI International Conference .. gulp but don’t let the client know it’s going to be tight
Step 3: have a brainstorming session on flying analogies from where the title emerges
Step 4: plan chapter structure and author writes 1st draft
Step 5: edit and creation of 2nd draft, adding layer of metaphor to 1st draft – in this case, aviation
Step 6: from the layered metaphor the most perfect image appears with a team flying in formation [read collaboration] of 9 planes with a back 5 (neatly melding in with the book’s strapline of “Achieving Freedom from the 9 to 5″)
Step 7: format for print and Kindle – upload to Completely Novel and Amazon Digital Text Platform
JOB DONE … now the marketing begins and doors start opening ….

Thanks for making the process so easy Tom.
Less than a week after release, my book is currently the number 29 bestseller for small business on the amazon.co.uk kindle store!
So well deserved … Roll on number #001
