Asha Patel : Rooms and Views

Those that know me, know that I like working quickly and love getting quick results. What has transpired this week working with author and photographer, Asha Patel, has surprised even me.

Here’s the diary of how it all unfolded …

Monday morning : meet with Asha and we have a one hour light bulb moment session where we establish her goals and a direction for her new business. Asha leaves with a task to be completed by the end of the week.

Monday afternoon : Asha completes the photographic shoot

Tuesday : Asha writes the beautiful words to perfectly complement her stunning photography showing a rare talent – someone with an eye for composition in both words and images

Wednesday : Asha combines photography and words into first draft of ‘book’

Thursday : a few tweeks on pagination and fonts and the ‘book’ is ready to upload

Friday: a stunning showcase of her talent for images and words is available online to be seen by potential clients

What was Asha’s experience of the whole process?

Q: How did you find the process of light bulb moment generation?

Intriguing. A way of working that I had not encountered before, and one which led to us producing some great ideas.

Q. What challenges did you come up against when implementing the ideas we came up with?

I came up against practical challenges such as grappling with graphic design and typography, though by far the greatest challenges were the personal ones! Having sufficient drive to implement the ideas without a vision of the end result was at times demanding.

Q: What have you learned about you as a result of overcoming these challenges?

My vision did not come from a magnificently laid out plan, rather, it developed through engagement with the project itself.

Q: Now you’ve achieved this first goal in less than a week, where has it left you and what’s next for you?

Producing a book in under a week has left me with a sense of accomplishment. What’s next for me is growth as an artist and the development of new ideas.
