 Authors Tales

Writing and publishing a book is the most amazing process – not just for the pride it gives you as an author but for all the doors it opens as a result.
If I hadn’t written those 33 stanzas in 100 Years of Ermintrude back in 2006, I simply wouldn’t be doing what I am doing now. [...]

I am so thrilled to announce that, less than a year since I wrote the original book, Flavours of Thought is now in its Second Edition.
The second edition of course includes all the ancient wisdom in the same contemporary context as the first but now there are some added juicy bits such as:
- Seven brand new [...]

In the interests of sharing the power and usefulness of a review both for the author and other readers, I thought I’d share this one that came in recently for my book Blocks …
It’s a reminder to all readers to take time to give feedback to authors and for authors never to think a book they wrote a few years ago can’t still pack a punch and make an impact. Eternal thanks to Dr Joy Madden who wrote it …
P.S. see the original review and more on BellaOnline.com …
`BLOCKS’ by Tom Evans has self development tips and tools to clear writer’s block and get that book of yours written via a “new and holistic way of thinking and being”. Whatever you are writing (books, scientific papers, adverts, articles, blogs), BLOCKS is a self development book that resurrects and develops your creativity. Have a look at the self development review below.
In essence, Tom shows you new tools to clear writer’s block, help you “undergo personal transition, enlightenment and evolution” and get your book published. His self development tips can help to clear any mental block and get your creative thoughts in print.
There are 130 pages (including Glossary). The headings are succinct and the text is interspersed with drawings, bullet-points, etc. Each of the 15 chapters ends with simple exercises to consolidate learning. The short chapters, paragraphs and sentences all contribute to the book being easy to digest even though it covers some complex issues.
With many books you skim over paragraphs looking for phrases that mean something to you. With this book, virtually every sentence has some importance and is worth pondering to acquire the full power of this book.

Before you get too excited, this is not me but a US-based author called John Locke.
He’s very cleverly written a book that described how he did it which itself I suspect will sell another million in less than that time.
I’ve just downloaded it for my iPad and it’s brilliant – brilliantly simple and brilliantly easy to [...]

It’s simply never a better time to be an author. You can go from edited manuscript to publishing it globally as an ebook within a couple of days and in print within just a few days.
My guest this week on the Barefoot Book show was Joel Friedlander who has written an amazing book called A Self [...]

So you’ve written your ebook but how do you get it out to the world and even start making money from it?
Option 1: PDF
Well the simplest way is as it has always been – to create a PDF file. This not only preserves the formatting of you source document but ensures it can’t [easily] be tampered [...]

… a fresh approach to creating an eBook
Sales of ebooks are predicted to overtake paperback books by 2014. For authors especially, simply to bury your head in the sand by saying you prefer a printed book is not an option. Aside from any other consideration, increased royalties make writing with the ‘ereader’ in mind a prudent [...]

If I was writing this article just five years ago, when asked what an ebook is, I would probably have said a PDF. Where PDF is an acronym for Portable Document Format which, unlike say an Word document, is read-only and retains all the source formatting and layout.
Nowadays, with the increasing ubiquity of ereaders, it might [...]

I’d literally just finished the last page of my new book, Flavours of Thought, when an email came into my Inbox about a new service called CompletelyNovel.
At first I ignored it, as it actually came into my Spam folder, but something encouraged me to click the link and I was amazed at what I found. So [...]
