 Writers' Block
By thebookwright, on January 12th, 2012
As many of you are aware, I was surprised as anyone by making the transition from bored IT consultant to specialist at removing writer’s block.
If this is new to you, I am not talking about simply getting creative juices flowing (which I also do) but also sometimes dealing with deep trauma and fears associated with the [...]

I had the great pleasure recently of interviewing new author Kuumba Nia about her book – The Circle of One.
Every so often a book comes your way that simplifies what was previously both complex and hidden to you … they are, of course, always books you wish you could have written so eloquently.
Kuumba has neatly summed [...]

In the interests of sharing the power and usefulness of a review both for the author and other readers, I thought I’d share this one that came in recently for my book Blocks …
It’s a reminder to all readers to take time to give feedback to authors and for authors never to think a book they wrote a few years ago can’t still pack a punch and make an impact. Eternal thanks to Dr Joy Madden who wrote it …
P.S. see the original review and more on BellaOnline.com …
`BLOCKS’ by Tom Evans has self development tips and tools to clear writer’s block and get that book of yours written via a “new and holistic way of thinking and being”. Whatever you are writing (books, scientific papers, adverts, articles, blogs), BLOCKS is a self development book that resurrects and develops your creativity. Have a look at the self development review below.
In essence, Tom shows you new tools to clear writer’s block, help you “undergo personal transition, enlightenment and evolution” and get your book published. His self development tips can help to clear any mental block and get your creative thoughts in print.
There are 130 pages (including Glossary). The headings are succinct and the text is interspersed with drawings, bullet-points, etc. Each of the 15 chapters ends with simple exercises to consolidate learning. The short chapters, paragraphs and sentences all contribute to the book being easy to digest even though it covers some complex issues.
With many books you skim over paragraphs looking for phrases that mean something to you. With this book, virtually every sentence has some importance and is worth pondering to acquire the full power of this book.

I am constantly asked by authors how big their book should be and how many words should they write.
This often seems to be a barrier to people even putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) thinking that they will never have time to write a book.
The average paperback page takes around 250-300 words so a [...]
 Writers' Block

By Guest Blogger & EFT Therapist, Penny Waite
As any writer knows, there are times when, for whatever reason, the words and ideas do not flow or cannot be captured.
What makes this happen?
A block or blocks can cause this difficult state. The subconscious is busy, all the time taking everything in and then passing us subliminal messages. [...]
 Writers' Block
By thebookwright, on May 15th, 2010
Over the last few years, it has amazed me how the same blocks come up time after time.
Some of these blocks not only affect people starting out on the road to writing but also authors who have completed their manuscripts and are having trouble getting it published.
Spelling them out and seeing which one or ones affect [...]

Every once in a while I feel it’s justified to blow your own trumpet … and this is one of them.
This week I ran the first of a new format of workshop for me – called a Blockbusting Workshop, it’s specifically aimed at removing writer’s block and setting a bunch of talented and latent writers off [...]
 Writers' Block

This poem was written by a wonderful author I am working with at the moment, who is crafting a real gem of a book, after our monthly mentoring session.
I am blogging it verbatim, with her permission and with great thanks to her for sharing it and writing it … it made me [...]

The 6 things that stop people writing
Part #004: Fear of Success
This last fear is one that can be the most debilitating. You’ve cracked all the other fears and finished your book. You may even have it printed and published … but it’s not selling and you’re struggling to promote it.
This is a fear that I have [...]

The 6 things that stop people writing
Part #003: Fear of the Unknown
It’s kind of natural to fear the unknown. For many of us, this fear can start at an early age and remain with us for most of our lives.
When it comes to writing your book – or specifically not-writing your book – it can be [...]
